Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) from residents can be brought to the SCISWA Landfill or the Poweshiek Transfer Station by appointment only.  HHM is accepted free of charge from residents of Lucas, Marion, Monroe and Poweshiek counties. 

 

 

This seasonal program ends October 31, 2025 and will re-open April 2026. Appointments available at the landfill on alternate Mondays 9:00am – 11:30am, Wednesday during the hours of 9:00am – 3:00 pm, Friday 9:00am – 11:30am.  Appointments accepted at the transfer station on Wednesdays only. Hazardous waste from Very Small Quantity Generators (i.e., small businesses with less than 220 pounds per month) can also use the drop-off facilities with some restrictions. Go to the small business services page for more information.
