Landfill user information
Please note the following procedures and regulations
Covered loads: All loads coming into the landfill must be covered and secured. A surcharge will be assessed on all loads not properly secured.
Unacceptable items: No free-flowing liquids, hazardous waste, or friable asbestos will be accepted.
Area served: Waste can only be accepted from SCISWA members—Lucas, Marion, Monroe, and Poweshiek Counties—or the Rathbun Area Solid Waste Commission under the contract terms.
Inclement weather closing: If weather conditions are dangerous to staff or customers or unacceptable according to the SCISWA’s permits (for example, high winds or flooding), the landfill may temporarily close. Call 641-828-8545 or listen to your local radio station for announcements.

- Special waste (requires special waste authorization)
- Contaminated soil (with required lab testing)

- Auto batteries
- Clean concrete and bricks
- Electronic wastes
- Asbestos (requires staff approval and 24 hours’ advance delivery notification)

Landfill tipping fees
Minimum charge for all of the above waste types is $10, regardless of weight.
All loads must be tarped, tied, or secured from the time of origination—if not, a surcharge will apply.

Accepted items include air conditioners, commercial coolers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, freezers, furnaces, microwaves, stoves, PCB containing ballasts and capacitors, refrigerators, thermostats, washers, dryers, water heaters, and other items determined by staff.

Yard waste & recyclables
Accepted items include clean, unpainted concrete rubble (no rebar), clean rock, clean dirt, scrap metal, paper, cardboard, plastics (#1 through #7), and tin and aluminum cans.
