UPDATE:  SCISWA HHM COLLECTION EVENTS CANCELLED

All 2020 Household Hazardous Materials collection events have been cancelled in accordance with continued social distancing recommendations.  This includes events scheduled for the following dates:

  • Pella: Saturday April 18th
  • Chariton: Wednesday May 6th
  • Knoxville: Wednesday May 13th
  • Grinnell: Saturday July 11th

HHM Collection Events provide for free disposal of household hazardous waste to residents of Lucas, Marion, Monroe and Poweshiek counties. Waste from schools & businesses, including farms, will NOT be accepted without prior approval.  For more information about HHM and the items accepted at the SCISWA Landfill and Transfer Station drop-off locations click here.

Sharps or needles (must be contained) Must be contained in detergent bottles or sharps containers (not milk jugs or pop bottles). Lids must also be taped.
