The post Glass Recycling now available at our locations first appeared on SCISWA.]]> Recycle your glass bottles and jars at the SCISWA landfill and transfer station-just look for the purple bin!  SCISWA has partnered with Ripple Glass of Kansas City Missouri to provide glass recycling to our service area.   We accept all types and colors of glass jars or bottles for recycling, just dump them into the purple bin (no boxes or bags please).  Flat glass (mirrors or window glass) is not accepted for recycling along with porcelain, ceramics, dishware or china.  Large volume glass recycling is also available to communities or businesses-contact us to make arrangements.   Accepted items list

The post Renewable Energy is here! first appeared on SCISWA.]]> The SCISWA Landfill and Transfer Station sites have transitioned to solar powered energy!  Using grant funds provided by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Agency has installed rooftop solar arrays at both locations capable of providing all energy needs for the offices and transfer station.  This emission reduction is equivalent to removing 8 passenger cars from the road, every year!  At SCISWA we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and prove it by showing continual improvement in six categories annually:  water quality improvement, organics management, household hazardous waste management, greenhouse gas emission reduction, recycling, and environmental education.  For more information about the Agency’s Environmental Management System contact us at 641-828-8545.
